Identifying the major companies involved in e-journal provision
The differences between gateways, e-journal hosts, publisher web sites, aggregators, portals, search engine-based gateways and library gateways

Access Control and User Authentication
Definition of terms - authentication, authorisation, access control
User authentication methodologies, including IP address ranges, proxies, firewalls, Athens, Athens DA, Shibboleth and Identity 2.0
How to organise access to content efficiently
Library Web Technologies
A-Z e-journal lists
The OpenURL and link resolvers (e.g. SFX)
Z39.50, SRU/SRW and federated search engines
Electronic Resource Management (ERM) tools
