Aluka is an international, collaborative initiative building an online digital library of scholarly resources from and about Africa.
Aluka's focus is to aggregate archival material and supporting documentation of all types from collections around the world. Content is organized into three main themes: African Cultural Heritage Sites and Landscapes, African Plants, Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa.
Materials in Aluka will be of interest to faculty, students, and researchers working within broad range of disciplines such as political science, history, anthropology, economic development, environmental science, biology and other humanities and social sciences.
Institutions will either have their IP addresses authenticated or individual users may create a user ID and password to gain access. After 30 June 2008 institutions will need to license Aluka's content areas to retain access. Aluka is able to work with consortia
to offer savings to member institutions.
More information about Aluka can be located at www.aluka.org. Any questions may be directed to Javanica Curry in Aluka Library Relations at info@aluka.org.
